We’re out and ready to go!

Wow, what a weekend!! What a week!! And honestly it still doesn’t feel real that we’re going…

Dave sold his car this week, so this weekend we hired a car from the airport to help us with the last runs to the storage.

Emptying the flat took a little longer, and a lot more boxes, than we thought it would. Lucky for us, last weekend when we arrived to check-in for our 25 sqft storage, the room we’d been allocated had big girders taking up a lot of the space. They didn’t have any more of the same size, so we were automatically upgraded to a 50 sqft room for the same price. Today we filled that space! And I mean, FILLED, haha.

We also got our international driving permits. Which was a close call. Dave sold his car on Monday, and after submitting his V5c, immediately submitted a request for an address change with DVLA. I already did this a week before. The licence arrived on Friday, and we picked it up on Saturday and got the IDPs just in time!!

We dropped off the spider with Dave’s Dad and brother, and filled them in on how to look after her. I think they will really enjoy having her and Wendy has already been reading up on how to care for jumping spiders!!

Dave also dropped of his drone with his brother, Gaz. Unfortunately, you simply cannot take a drone into India. There’s no way around it, so the DJI drone I got Dave for Christmas can’t come with us initially… But we’re hoping we can either ship it out to wherever we are, or have a friend (maybe Nikki) come out to visit. In which case, they can bring it with them.

On Sunday, after tidying up the empty flat ready for the new tenants, we took Ru to Pete’s. I got a little emotional leaving him there, but I know he will be well looked after and get lots of cuddles from Pete and Chip alike.

Finally, we came to my Nan’ and cooked tea, checked our bags one last time and made sure all the admin was done and finalised.

DONE. We are both quite proud of ourselves for organising and executing all of this (packing up our entire lives), in just 2 weekends. Since both of us worked all the way up until Friday. But everything is finally done, and we’re ready to go.

Tomorrow is our flight… I think until we are on the plane, on the way, it still won’t feel real. It might not really hit home what we’ve done until after the Maldives, and we continue on to India after our initial “holiday”…

Fingers crossed our flight isn’t disrupted and catch us in 2 days from the Indian Ocean! 🥳

Our lives in a box!
